Leading up to the General Elections in Zurich the objective was to get the young people of Zurich to do something they don’t like doing: VOTING. Ideally for our 4 candidates.
The centrepiece of the campaign launched on Facebook. We founded the group: WHAT ZURICH NEEDS. Here the community could post proposals for their hometown.
To vote for their favourite proposals, our group members simply used the “Like” button. The world’s most direct democracy was launched.
After just 60 days, 4% of all eligible voters joined the group, posting and discussing over 7’000 ideas. The 4 ideas with the most votes where then literary put into practise by our 4 candidates who started pushing them through parliament.

Thanks to the ideas of the public and our 4 candidates, Zurich will now get a free citywide WiFi network, cheaper public transportation and a FreeBayDay. All 4 candidates were elected and helped the Social Democrats become the elections most successful party with 30.3% of votes.
